New in the shop...

I have two new little items for my shops today!

This is "Little Kay"

This little original painting is on a handmade polymer clay ornament. I am always experimenting with painting of different surfaces. I haven't decided if I am going to do more of these or not, it was fun, but sometimes fun isn't a good business decision. haha.

I made this little fox for my Blackforestcake Etsy shop. Aw, isn't he sweet?

And...

I got my cookie cake for 1500 sales! That baby was eaten so fast. Sure, I like to make real homemade cookies from scratch, but sometimes an overly sweet mall-made treat is just what you need. JUNK! :-)

I somehow hurt my back like a sad old woman, and sitting in my studio chair is killing me. Hopefully I heal and can get pack to work, because the next two weeks are a basically the best time of year. I have so many plans for things I want to make!! CakesCookiesDecorationsCostumesCoffins! :-D Can you tell I am excited?!

My dude likes to buy me presents when I reach milestones. (I know, awesome right?) He bought me the Hells Kitchen DS game so we can make fancy ass food in video game form while eating takeout onion rings.

Oh, so here is some stuff that is awesome.

#1-Martha Stewart. I already like her, but when Halloween comes around, I want her to adopt me. She just does halloween the way I wish the whole world did it. Its scary and elegant. She gets such good people to work at her magazine! The halloween room setups always look like I want my house to look like year round...

Look what I made! Its from the magazine, its a bat-mobile!! (Click for a tutorial) Gawd, I love it, and it was fun to make. I am never taking it down.

#2-Vampire related book. Enough said. Its almost read already, its not challenging reading. *snarf*

#3-AND philosophy The Haunted House set of yummy bath and shower gels!! OH MY FREAKING LORD I LOVE BLACK LICORICE! I died of happiness. Then the smell brought me back to life. I could drink the stuff. Also has a pumpkin spice and a caramel apple. Its really too adorable to exist.

Um, what else.

Oh right. As I stare down at my hot pink hands, I remember that I dyed my hair again, a nice intense fuchsia with a bit of black.



Its always so awesome the first few days, people stop me on the street to ask me about it, and kids eyeballs pop out. When I stop having pink hair, I know I will miss kids look of amazement when they realize that THEY could have pink hair if they wanted to. Its freaking sweet. And then the moms flash of panic is sweet too. haha.

So, work stuff...

The last page of my 10 page book (booklet?) is complete, and just the cover remains, which I may have professionally printed, we shall see. Its my big project that I pretend to work on when really I am cooking furiously with Gordon Ramsay on my DS. He hasn't even called a donkey yet in the game. I am disappointed. I am sure its coming.

I had a whole bunch of little things to blog about. Things I bought, things I made...BUT it has all been blasted away by this awesome thing that occurred!

1000 sales at my Etsy shop!

I couldn't be happier about it. I won't lie, it makes me feel like a big shot.

The person who helped push me past this landmark was Jennifer from urbanfusions! A glass artist,with a candy coloured shop. And she's a fellow Canadian ,which is pretty rare. I think having a fellow Etsy shop owner buy the 1000th thing is great, because I am sure she can share in my excitement. We all start with zero and never think we will achieve what other people do. (Ok, I lied, I totally thought I would sell 1000 things someday, just someday in the far future!) Thanks Jen. You made my day!

So I have orders to pack and a totally renewed sense of self awesomeness. Which may result in me making mazing new products or just dancing around my studio and not getting anything done but cutting out paper bats.

Plus I may have chosen what I want to be for Halloween, which makes life complete. :-)

Yeah, so its been quiet.

Every day I start to post a blog entry, then go "nah...I will wait another day."

But this just happened, so its going to get immediate attention.

8oo sales at my Etsy shop!Woo hoo! Every milestone is awesome for me. I feel like a big shot. I light my cigars with dollar bills (Or I guess $5 Canadian bills, since a loonie isn't really flammable.) *Struts around all cocky*

Ok, now that we have that back patting out of the way I can let you all down and say that I am not taking any custom orders for a few months. I have a TON of custom orders on the go and I have too many ideas that are sitting in the back of my brain getting overwritten by Family Guy quotes.

And of course I decide not to do custom orders right when Alchemy comes back to Etsy . (Alchemy is the custom order part of Etsy where you can ask for special stuff or offer to make it for people.) Its like they planned it to make me look mean! :-P

700 sales in my Etsy shop!

Even though it had been agreed that there doesn't HAVE to be a cookie for ever hundred sales, I got one as a surprise... Yay! I wonder why the person who piped it put the 700 so high on the cookie? I mean, thats just bad cookie craftsmanship.

I am working on a little project to be laminated tomorrow. Yay for lamination!What is this creepy girl up to?

Inked....Hmm, what could it be???

I spent most of the day fighting with BOTH my printers which ganged up on me and clogged on the SAME DAY. A microscopic flake of ink kills an entire day of work. So I basically want to smash everything in the world to dust right about now. Especially this guy...How can a small cat be so annoying?? Let me translate what he says to me all day. "Mom!mom! mom!moooom! mom!MOM! MOM! MOM!" GAWD, child! Get a hobby! Being a person who works in a studio all day and having a cat that hates when I work in the studio is not a good combo. Look at that face. Imagine that staring at you from a dim hallway like 12 hours a day. Its creeepy.

Yeah, so I am thinking of getting another cat. Think they would gang up on me like the printers did?

Neglect is the word I was looking for...

Ok, so that was kind of mean of me, just leaving this blog to fend for itself. I am a bad blog-mother.

But I am going to rehabilitate myself and make it right by posting pictures of things and items and stuff now...

Aww, its a BABY Batcat! I picture a nest full of those little guys, mewing away like baby birds. (Note to self, don't put ideas like that on the internet, TRADEMARK!) Haha. I think that might have to turn into a painting. Hmmmm.

I have been keeping myself buy making stuff, packaging stuff and waiting for the American Thanksgiving to finally be over (Whats up with that, can't they have it when we do, when you are SUPPOSED TO? Haw haw.) I guess Thanksgiving is this invisible line that Americans wait to cross to shop for Christmas. Canadians don't have that. I just get antsy knowing my "shipping to US cut off date" is fast approaching...

I also make about one billion ACEO's (Art Cards, Editions and Originals) this week....

They are actually really neat, these teeny tiny prints. There is something satisfying about having a little stack of them like you had collector cards when you are a kid. Once a collector, always a collector I guess.

OOh, not to jinx myself (like I often do) BUT I am so close to 600 sales! It really doesn't loose its thrill, each milestone. Thanks so much everyone!! I have so many repeat customers who are super awesome, and new buyers who make me their first Etsy-buy. Grah, its all so sentimental.

So enjoy your pumpkin pie. I wish I had a piece. Only one piece though, cause after that, its really, really gross. :-P

Wow!

500 sales!!Aww! My dude is the best and always surprises me with one for every hundred sales. This one may be the last as 500 is "the big leagues" to me. At 600 I will buy something for myself! :-)

I can't belive I am almost too busy to make Halloween stuff (aside from bat cookies and my costume and all my regular stuff) But I did manage to make this little lady...She is evil witch in training, but it isn't going very well because she is too nice and cute. Gawd, I love to make these cat things.
