Makes you late for dinner.

I haven't been drawing much, because sitting in a chair makes my back hurt. Which is a pretty serious concern for someone who sits at the computer or sits at the sewing machine, or sits at a drawing table all day.

I think I prematurely aged.  Possibly going to be one of those "Ow my back" people for life now. Its really helping my cheer levels, which were pretty high to begin with. *Sarcasm chasm, watch out*

I think I am on the mend though. I completed this. (For no discernable reason...)
hobbit
The Hobbit is so cute. Re-watching it, I still think its cute. All the characters are cute. All the actors are cute. Ugh, Bilbo's house is so dang cuute. The movie has no women in it, which is terribly UNCUTE, but other than that problematic crap...CUTE.  Should have put off seeing it until all three movies were finished, though. Waiting is the worst.

As for the comic, I know its a popular act on tumblr to be like "Oh, I hate people, I just need my computers heat for love" but seriously, that is me. This comic isn't an exaggeration. Everyone, you are nice and lovely and I might even like you, but I want you to GO AWAY.  Even if you are an amazing wizard and offering the adventure of a lifetime..Nahhhh.

Original Painting for sale!

Ok, so here we go.

My first original artwork for sale in 2009.

halloween ball original

Ok, I cheated a bit. It was pretty easy to sell this painting because it scanned so well that I feel its a really accurate representation of the original artwork. I hardly did any digital work to make it salable as a print. So I know it will look good in someones collection.

Plus its on watercolour paper with no varnish or anything, so its more fragile than many of my other artworks, so it has to fine a home before it gets wrecked (in my mess of a studio!)

Phew. That wasn't so hard. I got a ton of feedback from sweet people urging me to list originals, and that really helped me get going. Thanks everyone!!

More to come soon...

Matting like Mad

Its really hard to deny that matting things makes them SO much better looking. I matted two tiny little paintings and they came out pretty cute.

Portrait in Purple

A little acrylic painting on watercolour paper. I haven't even listed it on Etsy yet (Update: Now its is)...I hope people out there like the messy acrylic edges as much as I do. Its funny how hard I work on that to make it look so accidental and random.

Batcat and the Night Pond

And a little Batcat painting. Batcat and the Night Pond. I don't know if I would even sell something like this if it wasn't matted. Its really strange how it changes from "Meh, its ok I guess" to "aww, its so cute!" as soon as I pop it in a mat. I might even try and make a print the exact same size to sell later on in the shop.

I still haven't finished photographing all my silk screened stuff. I am such a procrastinator!

Oh, and here is one more little addition to the shop. Its a little bat!
Pink Winged Bat
It was gloomy when I photographed this little guy, so the photos were kind of crappy, but he is really cute in real life. Yes, boy bats can have blush and pink wings. I don't think I will be making any bats for a while. So enjoy this little face while it lasts! :-)

Now, what else can I mat today? *Looks around* haha.

Feels like Monday...

After the dullest long weekend ever, I am feeling surprisingly upbeat.

Do you remember this?
Sketch of...something.

It became this...

Branna

She is available as a print in my shop.

Its nice when a painting comes out easily. There was very little smudges, flubs, things I would remind myself to Photoshop out. The print is basically the same as the original, which is rare. I think knowing this wasy a pointless painting of a girl, with no rules, and no one to please, just made it more fun. I even left her eyes white the way I always want to, knowing most people feel differently than I do about it.

Haven't decided if I am going to sell the original yet. Probably. I think I would want to mat it myself.

So on this "Monday" after the long weekend, I am working on:
-my new silk screened tote bags! Canvas bags, some natural coloured, some dyed, some embellished....
-resizing prints to fit my new little mats (I hope will arrive today) I always want to control the mat. I would frame it and hang it up in your house if you let me.
-working on new business card design! I can't believe I blew through 1000 business cards already. Time for a change. A glossy, fancy change.
-eating a vegetable.
-trying not to ruin the season finale of House for my dude who hasn't seen it yet.

Peek into Batcat land...

Here is a little project I am working on right now.

(My silk screening project has been put on hold. I made an image too big for any of my screens. DUH. I will have to buy new ones. The ruler is a very important tool i should pay more attention to. haha.)

Anyway, here is what I am doing instead. Dual Batcats!!

Pencil rouch for Batcat

This is one of them, the "nice" one. You can see how in depth some of my roughs are. *snicker* I had just started to ink it when I took a picture...

Inked Batcats

Here is the "bad" one. I have a plan that uses both of these as prints and also as a two part mystery object. Of course, it always depends on how they turn out. There are always a lot of happy accidents in my paintings.

So now to paint.

Sara and Schipperke

Here is my messy desk, working on a painting....

Progress shop of Sara and Schipperke

And here is the final!

Sara and Schipperke

Acrylic and ink on illustration board. I don't know if its finished or not. I might add a background digitally. Schipperkes (skipper-key) are the best dogs that look like little flying foxes to me. I just love their super black fuzzy fur and they way their legs kick out when they run. I will sit through a dog show on TV to see one.

Sara and Schipperke detail1

Admittedly, sometimes when I finish a print, I look at it and think "Who would buy this?" I mean, except someone with my exact interests. Haha. People SHOULD have the same interests as me!!

I think this might be my first dog ever? Can I still be a cat lady?

*UPDATE*
I added a nice striped background and listed it in my shop...

MORE!

Yeah, I wasn't kidding. I am going to go memo board crazy...

I am trying to get more involved with my Flickr account. If you want to add me go ahead! I also started an Etsy Goth group, in hopes that I can round up some of the sellers who make goth-ish items to chat and shop and get to know each other. Join, join, join!

Oh, thats what it is...

The post below has a little sketch, which turned into THIS!

It a dry erase memo board!

Now that I made a few of these I am all feeling all Gollum-like, wanting to hoard this idea all for myself. Its my wonderful idea and no one else shall ever make another memo board. (Haha, if I put that in writing it will come true right?) I am selfish like that. I feel like this one worked so well, I am going to make more and more!
